Making A Dream Come True

wmgeVIXT

Clearcreek Country Vineyard started from the dream of Gary Evans, who wanted a small vineyard upon retirement from his 30 year engineering job at Harley Davidson in Pennsylvania. Gary planted the acre vineyard between 2006 to 2007. He and his wife, Shirley, would drive back and forth from Pennsylvania to tend to the vines for over 3 years before his eventual retirement in 2009. Upon his retirement, Gary and Shirley moved to Amanda to settle in and work full time in the vineyard to get it ready for production. Tragedy struck as Gary suddenly passed away in January of 2010, which was devastating for Shirley and the entire Evans’ family. It seemed as though Gary’s dream had came to an end before it was fully realized.

Gary’s nephew, Randy, volunteered to help bring in the vineyard's next harvest for Shirley and tie up the loose ends with the property. He sat down and studied the meticulous notes Gary had taken on how to take care of the vineyard and make the wine. Randy became hooked immediately and his curiosity for winemaking soon became a passion, just like his uncle.

A partnership was formed between Randy, his wife Christine, and Shirley who began caring for the vineyard in the fall of 2010. Randy started following Gary’s instructions and educated himself on the entire process of making wine. The next, and most important, step was to see if anyone would drink it. Many volunteered to taste the wine and the reality of opening the winery came to life. Seeing that the dream was becoming a reality, Shirley took the steps to become a licensed vineyard and winery. A small tasting room was established in 2013, and in June of 2014 Gary's dream came true as Clearcreek Country Vineyard bloomed into business.

Because of the rapid growth of the vineyard, in 2018, the decision was made to move the tasting room to the main house in order to provide more space for our customers. Family members have also volunteered their time to help maintain the vineyard, like Jim, Randy's father. You'll also find on our staff, Missy and Aly, Shirley's nieces, serving at the open houses, tastings, and other events.

Family weddings in the vineyard make priceless memories. Visitors from the city come to enjoy a quiet glass of wine or two on the porch. Many people come to just enjoy the slow pace the country setting has to offer.

We would love for you to come and see us. We look forward to sharing Gary’s dream with you and we promise you will leave relaxed and refreshed.
